Taking Care of Business...

Below is a traditional Japanese toilet. You squat over it and do what you need to do. Although they are still common everywhere, most public places and homes also have Western style toilets.

For example, a toilet at Kansai Gaidai:

Not only are there lots of fun buttons to push, but there is also the option to heat the toilet seat (with a temperature adjuster, of course). In addition, if one does not want others to hear them doing their business, they can push a button to make a flushing noise, such as this one below.  Almost every Japanese woman who walks into the bathroom will use the extra noise. It was quite the culture shock to get used to! From the few guys I have asked, I do not believe there exists such a button in the men's room:

Below: A close up of the buttons. I've tried a few of them....let's just say you're up for a surprise! WOOHOO!

That's it for now. I hope this was entertaining :-)
