International Festival

The International Festival is an annual event at Kansai Gaidai, one that happens on a weekend with lots of preparation that amounts to lots of fun. Basically, each student organization on campus decides on a type of food to make and they have stands for each one outside. Japanese people are very good at selling things! Let's see, I ate chicken, french fries, crepes, yakisoba, half a taco, a small waffle....so, you get the idea. LOTS OF FOOD :-) Mmmmmm.
The international students who want to get involved have a program where they create a table with information from their countries, and there are questions to guess and collect stickers from each place to earn a prize. Some trivia I remember: the Thai alphabet has 44 letters and Kenya's population is 23 million!

I almost felt as if I was walking around in a circus sometimes; there was so much energy and so many people dressed up. Perhaps it was also the last chance to celebrate Halloween. The cheerleading squad performed, the martial arts students did demonstrations, and there were kids everywhere (many community members also came, as it was open to the public). There was a closing ceremony with Taiko drums and it was lots much fun!

Girls all dressed up. Note the girl with the Budweiser dress---see what I mean about Halloween? That can't possibly be for a student organization, can it?
