The Place I Call Home

Things are going well with my host family. It's day three, and I feel comfortable for the most part. Communication is good, and I understand almost all of what my host parents tell me. My little brothers, Satoshi (4) and Shunsuke (2) keep me entertained. I'm already planning on going to Satoshi's undoukai (athletic festival), and my host dad said he would teach me tennis! It's a bit overwhelming to have a 2 year old hitting me with toys at 7am, but it sure makes me glad to have my own space on the third floor! I hope that I can help out more around the house. My host mother insists on doing my laundry and has so far rejected help whenever I ask to help with dinner. She's pregnant and due in January, so I'm assuming she'll need help before I leave!

I am also including a picture from Kyoto. This woman was SO excited to get a picture with us!

Ack! Everything about your pictures looks so Japanese! From the sleek modern lines of you host family's gate to your tiled bathroom to your minimalist bedroom. :D

Enjoy yourself!
